Hat Creek in the fall

Lower Hat Creek

A visit to Hat Creek in any season is bound to charm. A quiet, mellow, and pristine section of Hat Creek near Hat Creek Park is the ideal destination for an easy hike, kayaking and canoeing, and offers world class rainbow trout fishing.

In the spring, with the opening of fishing season this area is popular with fly fisherman who can often be seen in the shallows flicking their lines for a bite. Spring also brings fantastic weather for hiking and taking in wildlife. Raptors such as eagles and hawks can be seen from the banks, nesting in the surrounding trees.  On the creek, non motorized boating is a lovely option to take in the sights and wildlife.

The summer brings even more epic fishing, boating, and cooling off in the refreshingly brisk water.  The creek is teeming with life with sightings of many birds, turtles, minks, muskrats, and even river otters.

The fall gifts an array of gorgeous color to the creek. This is the best time for hiking as the weather cools and the trees put on a show.

The quiet beauty of winter is always a treat. Taking a hike out at Hat Creek on a snowy day is sure to leave you in awe of nature's beauty.

Enjoy this spot in all that the seasons have to offer.
